Montachem/Sogeplast Recycling Project Donates Desks to Haiti School in 2020

MONTACHEM 2020 HAITI DESK DONATION

On December 15th 2020, Montachem, in partnership with the Sogeplast recycling program made a further donation of 200 recycled plastic school desks to Adonai College, Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

The 200 plastic desks were comprised of 100% recycled PE and PP collected from Haiti’s shores and cityscapes and replaced unsafe wooden desks that were no longer suitable for purpose- a fantastic demonstration of the plastics circular economy.

This donation follows on from Montachem’s initial 2019 donation to Institution Jesus Enfant, Haiti and brings the total number of desks donated to 400. More to come!

Each child was also extremely grateful to receive a new back pack for their school years ahead of them!

At Montachem, we’re dedicated to a cleaner, greener planet. We’re conscious of the global plastic pollution problem and we believe that the plastics community should participate in eliminating it. Education and recycling are clearly the answer. By converting waste into low-cost, durable, much-needed elementary school desks, Montachem’s efforts help tackle the problems in Haiti, including pollution and limited funds for educational resources.

Lets keep the momentum and build this project together – one classroom at a time.
